The world of Tzu Chi September-October 2021 (Vol.137)

16 pecial Feature At the Jing Si Hall vaccination centre, Zulkarnain bin Abu Bakar holds a guide cane while placing the other hand on volunteer Hong Quee Wah’s shoulder, as the latter accompanies him from one station to another for his vaccination. Zulkarnain, a visually-impaired man who lives alone in Brickfields, had paid RM30 for taxi transport that day. He earns a living as a street performer. As his income was significantly affected by the pandemic, he had outstanding rent payments, and had to rely on the support from his friends. He looked forward to resume work and be self-reliant again after being fully vaccinated. Quee Wah was glad to see his positive outlook and caringly reminded him to take good care before he left for home. Jing Si Hall vaccination centre concluded its operation on August 22. Thanks to the contribution and cooperation from everyone, we are a step closer to achieving herd immunity. Hopefully, life can resume back to normal soon. [Photo by Lim Chin Shien]
