2021 • 02 26 Teacher Wong Tai Dea, a member of Tzu Chi Teachers’ Association, has also been incorporating Jing Si aphorisms in her lessons since she came across them. The meaningful aphorisms continue to inspire her. She would also quote the aphorisms to her students, to remind and encourage each other. Tai Dea attended the Tzu Chi Jing Si Aphorism Teaching Seminar held at Tzu Chi Malacca in December 2004. During the three- day seminar, she benefitted greatly from the lectures delivered by speakers from Taiwan Tzu Chi Teachers’ Association, sparking her interest in Jing Si Aphorism Teaching Method. “I did not know much about Tzu Chi then. Fortunately, fellow teachers patiently shared with me. They chose some Jing Si aphorisms that are simple for the children to understand and relate to their lives, and relayed them when delivering relevant text. Later, I also did the same to convey the traditional virtues and ethics in classes.” Tai Dea teaches Chinese and is a form teacher.
