17 With “respect for lives” and “faith in humanity” as the guiding principles, Tzu Chi’s holistic education emphasizes not only on delivery of knowledge, but also discovery of one’s innate potential. On March 18, 2016, Tzu Chi KL & Selangor’s application to set up an international school was officially approved by the Ministry of Education. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on September 16, 2017, and in January 2020, Tzu Chi International School Kuala Lumpur was officially opened. Although lessons had to be delivered online due to the pandemic, Tzu Chi’s education imbued with humanistic culture continued to receive positive response from parents and students.
