Goodies at every turn Early in the morning, volunteers and visitors from all walks of life congregated at the KL Tzu-Chi Jing Si Hall in Kepong for a day of family-friendly fun. Visitors to the fair were spoilt for choice by the array of vegetarian delicacies on offer, including vegetarian bak kut teh , asam laksa , curry mee, nyonya kuih and homemade cakes. The Gratitude Hall was converted into a play area to keep the little ones occupied with a host of games that encourage parent-child participation. The interactive activities were designed to educate and entertain, imparting lessons on environmental conservation and the concept of recycling in a light-hearted, casual setting. The charity fair was officiated at the strike of the gong by the CEO of Tzu Chi KL & Selangor, Echo Chien, who said in her opening speech: “I believe the efforts of all involved in the fair have paid off and are made sweeter by the joy of contributing to a meaningful cause. It is hoped that TCISKL is not only capable of nurturing outstanding talents, but also establishes a reputation as an exemplary model among Malaysia’s educational institutions.” The charity fair held at One City Mall was grounded in the values of gratitude, joy and giving back to society: expressing gratitude to the donors for their generous contributions; seeking joy in the lively atmosphere of the charity fair; and rewarding the public for their steadfast support. In addition, 10,000 lucky charms were given away to the visitors as a token of blessing. The venue was bustling with activity even before 9 am as final preparations were in order. A lyrical sign language performance livened up the scene, followed by the opening speech, delivered by the Deputy CEO of Tzu Chi KL & On June 23, 2019, Tzu Chi KL & Selangor volunteers organized three charity fairs to raise funds for the construction of TCISKL that ran concurrently across three venues.
