REUNION 2022

Some of you may have heard from your friends or seen on Instagram that the Science Club has taken time out of their precious weekend to spend some time together at the limited-time Science Museum Exhibition! I was lucky enough to be able to snag a spot to participate in this annual event together with the club. The exhibition is held at the Whittingtons Science Museum, about a 30-minute drive from our beloved school. It covers a wide range of scientific topics, from the prehistoric lives of our predecessors, the dinosaurs, to the vast outer space. Besides that, the exhibition also featured a talk by a knowledgeable palaeontologist, Mr. Benjamin to impart his vast knowledge about the splendour of the prehistoric age with us! Upon entering the grand doors of the Whittingtons Science Museum, I was instantly greeted by the colourful visuals the exhibition had to offer. There were multiple fossils of dinosaurs displayed under warm lighting for us to see, with panels at the bottom to inform us of the facts about the dinosaurs. There were also models and fossils of many dinosaurs around the hall. The most fascinating object I found displayed at the exhibition was a real fossilised dinosaur egg. It was bigger than any egg I saw! The thought of these items being several million years older than I am blew my mind. During my visit to the exhibition, I particularly enjoyed the interactive games the museum had to offer. The games were very visually appealing to us teenagers. They were engaging and interactive, allowing fellow science club members and I to learn many new things whilst having fun. Besides that, I also enjoyed the inspiring talk by the famed Mr. Benjamin. He taught us a lot of things about the prehistoric era. If it wasn’t for him, I would’ve still thought the extinction of dinosaurs was not caused by a huge volcanic eruption, but rather, a meteorite! However great this exhibition trip may be, there were also some drawbacks for me. We all are aware of how crucial proper hygiene is in this time when the pandemic is ongoing. Despite that, the exhibition management did not think of hiring a cleaning crew. Litter and rubbish were scattered everywhere. The railings and interactive boards provided were also greasy (ew). Nobody cared to disinfect the things that people touched most. I would recommend people to visit this exhibition located at the Whittingtons Science Museum. The prices are reasonable considering the calibre of the exhibition at only RM20 per entry for adults and RM10 for children aged 12 and below. My experience at the exhibition was fun and pleasant, I learned many things. However, remember to bring baby wipes and hand sanitiser to keep yourself clean and safe. I also recommend you bring along a jacket to the exhibition as it can get chilly. Student Work 214
